Consultant services to manage, maintain, improve, and provide technical support of the Statewide web-based system for crash analysis. Per RI General Law, RIDOT serves as the repository agency for electronic accident reports for statewide law enforcement agencies. This statewide crash system (SCS) also provides support to all municipalities within the State when electronically submitting their crash data. The crash data assists RIDOT with mitigating both the number and severity of crashes by targeting locations with a high frequency of crashes. The current SCS uses a RIDOT-hosted intranet website, networks, databases, and analysis tools to collect, store, verify, edit, analyze, and report crash data. This information is used by RIDOT to develop engineering and behavioral solutions to reduce the number and severity of crashes within the state. After a crash report is created by a police department, the report is transmitted to the RIDOT where the SCS verifies the data to ensure the crash report has met the minimum data requirements for acceptance into the SCS Microsoft SQL Server repository database. From the repository database, the crash data is processed by use of a front-end software package.
