Chariho Regional School District Joins the Rhode Island Purchasing Group by BidNet Direct

The Chariho Regional School District announced it has joined BidNet Direct’s Rhode Island Purchasing Group and will be publishing and distributing upcoming bid opportunities on the system. The Rhode Island Purchasing Group connects participating agencies from across Rhode Island to a large vendor pool and streamlines the bid and vendor management process. BidNet’s Rhode Island Purchasing Group provides notifications to registered vendors of new relevant solicitations, as well as any addenda and award information from participating agencies across Rhode Island, and can be accessed at www.bidnetdirect.com/rhode-island.

The Chariho Regional School District joined the purchasing group in April 2021, and will utilize the system to publish and distribute upcoming bid opportunities. The Rhode Island Purchasing Group is a single, online location that manages sourcing information and activities and provides local government agencies throughout Rhode Island the tools needed to minimize costs and save time throughout the purchasing process.

“We are always looking to increase our bid efficiency and competition,” says Ned Draper, Director of Administration and Finance for Chariho Regional School District. We hope the Rhode Island Purchasing Group will help us extend the reach of our solicitations, and it can help our vendors find more local opportunities,” he continued.

Registered vendors can access all open bids, related documents and files, additional addenda and award information. In addition, the Rhode Island Purchasing Group offers a value-added service to notify vendors of new bids targeted to their industry, all addenda and advance notification of expiring term contracts. Registered vendors have access to not only the Chariho Regional School District bid opportunities, but all participating agency bids.

About the Chariho Regional School District:

Chariho is a regional school district serving approximately 3,300 students and located in southern Rhode Island shared by three adjacent towns; Charlestown, Richmond, and Hopkinton. The name Chariho is derived by taking the first letters from each town name and combining them together. The district operates four elementary schools, two of which are located in Hopkinton; in the villages of Ashaway and Hope Valley, one in Charlestown, and one in Richmond. The Chariho campus located in the Richmond village of Wood River Junction and houses the Middle and High Schools, the Chariho Alternative Learning Academy (CALA) as well as the Chariho Career and Technical Center (CHARIHOtech).

The Chariho Act is the legislation governing the regional school district. Each town contributes taxes proportionally based on student enrollment. The Chariho Regional School District is recognized for academic and athletic excellence in the region and throughout the state.
