Project Information
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) seeks the services for the design and construction of a multi-phased project for roof replacements and repairs at the Barranquitas Job Corps Center. The project entails the tear-off and replacement of the roofs on Building 2 (Dormitory/Medical Building); Building 12 (Electrical Vocations Building); Building 14 (Academic/Education Building); the low roof on the north end of Building 7 (Gymnasium) and the repair of the Building 21 (Vocations Building) roof.
On Building 21, the structural metal roof shall be repaired by the application of a coating system on top of the existing roofing. The work also includes the replacement of existing jalousie windows in kind throughout Building 7.
The physical work necessary for the roofing shall include the demolition and disposal of the existing roofs and installation of the new roofing products including all flashings and accessories necessary for a complete system. Roof design shall meet current allowable wind loads for Puerto Rico and comply with the Executive Order 13514, "Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance" and "Guiding Principles for Federal Leadership in High Performance and Sustainable Buildings." All work shall be accomplished in accordance with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA).
In addition to the roofing work on Building 7 there are approximately 42 metal operable jalousie windows that shall be removed and replaced as part of the scope of work for Building 7.
The total square footage of all the roofs on this project is 20,950 sq. ft.

NTP to Substantial Completion: 182 calendar days
NTP to Contract Completion: 238 calendar days
