Specifications include, but are not limited to: provide welding inspection and testing during the fabrication of bridge girders, steel guardrail, luminaire assemblies, signposts, and other steel elements. The work may also include the inspection and testing of steel element installation on project sites and inspection and testing of existing steel members. For each work assignment, the Consultant will secure MDT's approval of the scope and corresponding cost prior to starting any work. Testing will be performed, and the testing personnel will be qualified, as follows: 1. General A. The Consultant will be required to travel to and from steel fabrication facilities within the state of Montana, or production facilities outside of Montana, to ensure all MDT, state, and federal policies are followed regarding welding, bolting, general steel fabrication, Buy America, and final product dimensional tolerances. B. The Consultant will be required to travel to and from MDT bridge projects to ensure all MDT, state, and federal policies are followed regarding welding, bolting, Buy America, and structure erection. C. The Consultant will work with the MDT Bridge Bureau and Materials Bureau to evaluate the constructability of proposed steel bridge structures and feasibility of associated erection plans
