Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Provide peer support services to individuals in the City of Montpelier who are experiencing homelessness. • Peer support work can be provided: Face-to-face or via text, telephone or online platforms With the intention to meet people where they are at, provide connection to desired services, provide advocacy when needed, and assist people meeting their housing and other goals. • Provide short-term support using an empowering and holistic approach which addresses issues of homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges, trauma, educational attainment, economic empowerment, social connection, and any other goals articulated by the individuals receiving peer supports: • This may include providing physical goods as needed as well, including food, tents, blankets, first aid kits, cellphones, bus vouchers, clothing, etc. A percentage of proposal for use of the Homelessness Task Force’s budget must be put towards this type of support • Assist and support individuals in navigating appropriate service systems and identifying resources. • Work in a collaborative process with the Washington County Continuum of Care, Washington County Mental Health Services, the Vermont Agency of Human Services, local Police Departments, the Police Departments’ embedded clinician, and Community Outreach Specialists, Central Vermont Medical Center, and other local homelessness advocacy organizations. • The potential Peer support worker must participate in the City’s Homelessness Task Force meetings as requested.
