Specifications include, but are not limited to: Motorola Solutions was awarded the contract for -the Statewide Public Safety Communications System Upgrade- Radio System - in 2019. The Radio System contract is to upgrade to ASTRO 25 trunked radio at tower sites, Zone Core sites, and 11 dispatch centers around the state. The Motorola Astro 25 radio traffic uses an Aviat Networks microwave network to route communications around the state to the core, sites, dispatch centers and tower sites. Aviat Networks was also awarded a statewide upgrade contract in 2019. The MHP is seeking a vendor to design and configure Juniper Networks components as an add-on to the system upgrade project. The Juniper Network components are part of what is known as a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) overlay that essentially sits between the ASTRO 25 radio system and the Aviat microwave system and much more efficiently and effectively moves traffic around the state network without human intervention.
