Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Game and Fish Department conducts creel surveys, big game aerial surveys for mule deer, white-tailed deer, elk, moose, pronghorn and bighorn sheep. The department only has one pilot on staff; therefore, it needs to contract with additional pilots with aircraft to do the surveys. The surveying of game and fish is very time sensitive. The weather also plays a significant factor in completion of the surveys. There is a short window of opportunity to schedule the pilots and complete the survey. The Game and Fish biologists fly with the pilots and conduct surveys and telemetry work. The Game and Fish Department will contact pilots within the flying services pool with the dates and flight plans. The Game and Fish Department may not know the exact date of the flight until the week or day before. If contacted to fly, the pilot must accept or deny the flight offer at that time.
