Specifications include, but are not limited to: Office of Attorney General – Crime Lab Division (NDAG) anticipates outsourcing 200-400 Sexual Assault Kits (SAKs) for forensic DNA testing by Sorenson Forensics. It is anticipated that approximately 200 of the SAKs will result in the potential for an entry of the forensic DNA profile into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database. The FBI’s Quality Assurance Standards (QAS) for Forensic DNA Laboratories, Standard 17, requires the National DNA Indexing System (NDIS) participating laboratory (NDAG) to show ownership of outsourced DNA testing through the completion of a technical review prior to entry of forensic DNA profiles into CODIS. Furthermore, Standard 17 allows for a third party reviewer to complete these requirements.
