Specifications include, but are not limited to: Sanitary sewer service was initiated in the late 1890s to serve the expanding population of uptown Butte. Many sanitary sewer mains and laterals have exceeded their design life, and deterioration of the system is prevalent: pipe wall thickness has diminished and several holes and PVC patches are found throughout the systems. Butte-Silver Bow (BSB) Metro Sewer Division has repaired numerous lines using new PVC pipe but many mains and laterals are still in need of repair. During CCTV inspection it was discovered that multiple sections of sanitary sewer require replacement. Each determined location has documentation of poor condition, sewer backups/increased maintenance frequency.
