Within the Department of Health and Social Services, the Division of Social Services (DSS) is directly responsible for a number of Programs for Delaware’s needy citizens. The mission of the Division of Social Services is to provide prompt, respectful and accurate services that promote the potential for self-sufficiency for all Delawareans The Division of Social Services determines eligibility and administers the following assistance Programs: • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) • General Assistance • Food Benefits (SNAP) • Subsidized Child Care/Purchase of Care (POC) Additionally DSS determines eligibly for the majority of Medicaid programs.
