Specifications include, but are not limited to: The vehicle access ends at the shed at the base of the hill, 1,150 ft, from the beacon. Heavy equipment on trailers may not be able to access the site and may need to be “walked” up to a ¼ mile to access site. All protruding iron must be removed from the ground or concrete at the Beacon tower Site. Concrete foundation (unknown thickness, assumed to be under 24”) approximately 12’X12’ under generator shed must be removed, the foundation hole filled in and the surface reclaimed. Powerlines and poles must be removed between the beacon and the shed building. Site work will need to be completed prior to September 25, 2020. The Contractor must have prior permission from MDT Aeronautics and private landowner prior to entering the property. The area must also be dry in order to begin work. All clean-up is the responsibility of the Contractor. Bill of sale issued after all items removed and area cleaned up. Items removed may be kept by Contractor upon removal for historical preservation, repurpose or restoration purposes. It is assumed that the value of the beacon and all other items will cover any costs the contractor may incur in the removal process. Total Weight for 55’ Tower – 3930 lbs The recommended cut location for equivalent weight top and bottom sections is Girt 3, approx. 41’ above ground level per the 51ft Airway Tower Form 7 plan sheet. Approx. half section weight – 1965 lbs This weight assumes that the tower is being removed at ground level. Also note that the ladder and cage on the side of the tower may cause some eccentricity when moving the sections. If Beacon and Course lights are removed, Cut section can be moved to Girt 5.
