Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.1 Annual, Semi-Annual, 5 Year and Quarterly Fire alarm testing and repairs are to be conducted in compliance with State, Federal, Joint Commission NFPA standards. The State of Texas requires services to provide inspection, testing and maintenance for NOTIFIER Fire Alarm and Automatic Sprinkler Systems at HHSC facilities. 1.2 Work on automatic sprinkler systems and NOTIFIER Fire Alarm and Automatic Sprinkler Systems must be completed in accordance with the following: a) NFPA 13 – Fire Sprinkler System Installation, 2013 Edition b) NFPA 25 – Inspect, Test, and Maintain Sprinklers, 2014 Edition c) NFPA 70 – National Electric Code, 2014 Edition d) NFPA 72 – National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, 2013 Edition e) Texas Insurance Code Chapter 6002 Fire Detection and Alarm Device Installation and 28 TAC §34.600 The Fire Alarm Rules f) Texas Insurance Code Chapter 6003 Fire Protection Sprinkler System Service and Instillation and 28 TAC §34.700 The Fire Sprinkler Rules 1.3 Big Spring State Hospital, located at 1901 N. Hwy 87, Big Spring, Texas is protected by NOTIFIER Fire Alarm and Automatic Sprinkler Systems. The systems provide audible and/or visual signals as the result of manual operation or the automatic operation of protective equipment; along with protection of life and property with the proper operation of the automatic sprinkler systems. The system includes the following: 25 control panels; 3 risers; 18 Flow Switches; 36 Tamper Switches; 18 Back Flow Preventers; 4 PIV’s; 194 manual pull stations; 42 heat detectors; 613 smoke detectors; 11 door holders; 53 duct detectors/HVAC fan shutdowns; 2 Ansul systems and 1 Campus wide Annunciator. The facility has a total of 25 buildings covered by the fire alarm system, 14 of these building have either full or partial sprinkler systems. All buildings have full smoke detection.
