Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Water Main Replacement – FY 2015 project consists of the installation of a new 6-inch ductile iron water main and appurtenances to replace existing 6-inch cast iron water main on portions of North Street, Wilbur Street, Prospect Avenue, and Courtney Street located in the City of Newark, Delaware. The project also consists of the installation of a new 8-inch ductile iron water main and appurtenances to replace the existing 8-inch cast iron water main on portions of Darwin Drive, outside the incorporated limits of the City of Newark, Delaware. The project includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following major work items, which are described in greater detail in the attached Project Drawings: A.Installation of 6-inch cement lined Class 52 ductile iron pipe and necessary bends and fittings under paved areas of North Street, Wilbur Street, Prospect Avenue, Courtney Street and Darwin Drive. B.Installation of 8-inch cement lined Class 52 ductile iron pipe and necessary bends and fittings under paved areas of Darwin Drive. C.Installation of 6-inch & eight-inch gate valves under paved areas of North Street, Wilbur Street, Prospect Avenue, Courtney Street, and Darwin Drive. D.Removal of existing gate valve boxes. E. Removal of fire hydrants and valve boxes and installation of new fire hydrants, leads, and isolation valves. F. Replacement of existing water and fire domestic services as indicated in the field by the City inspector. 12 G.Plugging and/or capping of existing water main and/or gate valve as indicated on the drawings. H.Wet tapping of existing water main. I.Installation of a 4-foot diameter sanitary sewer manhole. J.Paving, concrete, driveway, concrete curb and grass restoration. K.Hydrostatic testing and disinfection of all new piping. L.Maintenance of traffic.
