Specifications include, but are not limited to:For critical function on the Main Campus, reliable HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) is essential to preservation of human life and research product (e.g., patients, animals, tissue cultures, frozen samples, records), as well as post-event recovery and resumption of service to the community. Without hardening against flooding and loss of critical utilities (electricity and water), hurricane storm surge will flood many critical structures disabling municipal and franchise electrical and water utilities, such that HVAC is unavailable to critical buildings for an extended period. This project installs a flood barrier and provides necessary infrastructure (emergency power and water) to ensure continued HVAC Service to buildings during and after a design flood to protect to an elevation of 20’ MSL.
