Specifications include, but are not limited to:. The Geological Survey Division of the Department of Mineral Resources is measuring the heat flow within the Williston Basin. Accurate estimates of subsurface temperatures play important roles in the development of geothermal energy and the exploration and development of oil and gas resources in North Dakota. In 2014, 11 temporarily abandoned oil wells were temperature logged under this program. The temperature probe in two of the 11 wells was run through production tubing. The logged depths ranged from 3,000 to 13,000 feet. The vendor will be temperature logging temporarily abandoned (TA) oil wells that have been completely inactive for three months or more. The wells have had bridge plugs installed above the producing zones and are assumed to have been filled with inhibitor treated water. Therefore, H2S or corrosive fluids are not expected to be encountered. The majority of wells will likely not contain production tubing. Temperatures are anticipated to be less than 350oF (177oC).
