Specifications include, but are not limited to: The State of Delaware’s Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families, Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services announces the opportunity for organizations to bid to provide After-School and Summer Youth Prevention Program to begin in 2015-16. It is anticipated multiple organizations will we awarded funds statewide. Total funding available is $2.225 million to fund a variety of appropriate programming throughout the state. This initiative is an outgrowth of the initial recommendations by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the 2012 Adolescent Suicides in Kent County which pointed to a lack of afterschool activities for youth in Kent and Sussex Counties. Further, $500,000 of the total amount of funding under this RFP is intended to support evidence-based summer reading instruction for students who are not beginning to read by age seven, pursuant to Senate Bill No. 229 of the 147th Delaware General Assembly.
