Specifications include, but are not limited to: BLADE: 1. The blades shall be SAE 1020-1045 steel. 2. The blades shall be fabricated in various sized sections to provide the lengths indicated on the bid sheet, and shall be manufactured in accordance with the dimensions detailed in ATTACHMENT A. 3. Hole-punching shall be 11/16" square, countersunk to receive 5/8” diameter plow bolts or 13/16" square, countersunk to receive 3/4” diameter plow bolts. The hole spacing shall be as per AASHTO standards. 4. The finished blade section shall be given one coat of rust resistant lacquer. 5. The finished blade sections shall be free of warpage, with the longitudinal deviation not to exceed 1/8” in a four-foot section. 6. The complete cutting edge shall consist of a combination of sections, with the two end sections interchangeable. TUNGSTEN CARBIDE INSERTS: 1. The inserts shall be a high W.C. grade of tungsten carbide with 11 to 13 percent cobalt content. The tungsten carbide shall be new; no reclaimed tungsten carbide may be used. 2. The density shall be in the range of 14.1 to 14.6. 3. The hardness shall be in the range of 87.5 minimum to 89.0 maximum Rockwell "A" scale. 4. The transverse rupture strength of the carbide shall be 350,000 psi minimum. 5. The dimensions of the insert shall be as shown on the attached drawing, with 1" nominal length. 6. The sections shall essentially have 1" of tungsten per each 1" of section. A carbide grade analysis certification shall be submitted with each bid.
