Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University invites you to submit a proposal to contract for educational travel services. This trip is a cultural study tour during the 2019 summer to Barcelona, Spain, including the on-site study of historical, artistic, and cultural sites as well as museums, galleries, and churches. Students will learn about the history, art, architecture, and culture of Barcelona from antiquity through modernity, visiting and discussing some of the most treasured locations and artworks associated with the intellectual tradition and heritage of Barcelona and Catalonia. Brief readings from key authors and texts will supplement our travel, creating a rich co-curricular learning experience for all UH students, especially those who participate in The Honors College, its signature interdisciplinary course (“The Human Situation”) and courses in the Minor (Phronêsis). Students who join this trip will engage the wonders of Barcelona, and travel on brief day-trips to the beautiful environs of Montserrat and Costa Brava. We anticipate 20-25 students plus 3-4 faculty/staff on this trip.
