All bids must be marked ATTN: Darrin Gordon Savannah Road Water Main Abandonment & 14 HDPE Water Main Installation under Lewes-Rehoboth Canal BID on the outside of the sealed bid package. The bids will then be publicly opened and read. Work on the Project consists of the abandonment of existing 4-inch and 6-inch water mains, and re-connecting side-street water mains currently tied into the 4-inch and 6-inch mains to an existing 12-inch main in the Savannah Road right-of-way. Also, approximately 60 80 house water services will be re-connected from the 4-inch and 6-inch mains to the 12-inch main. Water mains and fittings shall be installed via the open-cut method. House service piping shall be bored beneath Savannah Road with disturbance outside the road area in the grass areas and/or sidewalks with the DeIDOT right-of-way. All pavement restoration shall be in accordance with DeIDOT Specifications, latest edition. All quantities are approximate. Also, work on the Project consists of the installation of a 14-inch HDPE water main under the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal between Pilottown Road and Newport Avenue including valuing and other ancillary work, A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the City Council/Board of Public Works Chambers within Lewes City Hall. Bidders are encouraged to walk the site after the meeting. Bidding Documents may be examined at the Issuing Office between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM Monday through Friday. Copies of the Bidding Documents may only be purchased at the Issuing Office for a non-refundable fee of $40.00. Checks should be made payable to George, Miles & Buhr, LLC. Only plan holders purchasing documents from George, Miles & Buhr, LLC will receive revisions by Addendum and be eligible to submit a bid. The bid must include all costs incidental to the Work of the Project and must be accompanied by a bid security in the form of a certified check or bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10) of the bid total and made payable to the Lewes Board of Public Works. No bidder may withdraw his bid within 60 days after the bid opening date. The Lewes Board of Public Works reserves the right, at its option, to waive any informalities, irregularities, defects, errors or omissions in any or all bids and to reject any or all bids, and to extend the time and place for opening the bids from that noted above with not less than five (5) days-notice. The Lewes Board of Public Works reserves the right to choose a combination of items and item quantities from any, or all, parts of the bid proposal form.
