Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. This Contract is contingent upon receipt of federal funding through the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). b. The Contractor shall provide an interactive experience for students by heightening awareness that teen impaired driving is a significant problem that affects real lives. The Contractor will facilitate real driving under the influence/driving under the influence of drugs (DUI/DUID) sentencings (Programs) at local high schools in order to educate teenagers about the legal consequences of drinking and driving as well as the role of the judicial branch of the government. Students will have an opportunity to directly witness the defendant’s trial, sentencing, and the imposed fines and penalties. Following the sentencing, the judge will make a brief presentation and co-facilitate the interactive portion of the assembly. The intent is to allow for significant dialogue among the students, defendant, judge, attorneys, law enforcement officers, and special guests. c. The Contractor shall conduct the DCS Program in high schools statewide. The Contractor shall educate other participants (CHP, judges, attorneys, etc.) on the DCS Programs via presentations. Presentations shall familiarize attendees with all aspects of the DCS Programs, and how they can benefit their respective communities. The CHP and Contractor agree to abide by the terms of this Agreement in accordance with the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), Grant Program Manual.
