Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of the DVR program is to assist Vermonters with disabilities gain and maintain employment. Providing assistance to individuals referred by State to apply for Social Security Disability benefits by performing the following functions: 1. Prepare and submit all Social Security application materials; 2. Schedule SSA interviews; 3. Communicate application status to the SSA and other State entities on behalf of applicants; 4. Follow the progress of each application and communicate with all parties; 5. Assist the applicant in appeals process or ensure legal representation; and 6. Provide successful applicants with information about State services, including benefits counseling.
