Scope of Work Specifications Kamalomaloo Access Road and Exclosure Clearing Line item 1: Repair and Maintenance of Dirt Road This road is divided into two sections. Section 1: - 10’ of vegetation clearing on both sides of the road Section 2: - Grade road to proper angle for proper water runoff to minimize impact of erosion. - Install new water diversions as needed (throw-aways, water bars, rolling dips) - 3” minus aggregate must be placed on this section and worked into the road to create a solid base. The road must be at least 15’ wide. - Ruts and holes in road where erosion has occurred, must use 6” aggregate as the base and cap with 3” minus. Some material exists on site, but if additional material is needed, contractor is responsible for purchasing and hauling to site. - Contractor may clear vegetation and debris as needed to ensure vehicles and equipment can pass safely. Any clearing larger than 20’ must be approved ahead of time. Line item 2: 8-acre Vegetation Clearing This 8-acre area will include 10’ on the northside of the road and the remaining acreage on the southside of the road. Vegetation shall be shredded/masticated throughout the 8-acres. Vegetation consists mostly of young Albizia, guinea grass, milkweed, cecropia (trumpet tree), and others. This area was previously harvested of large albizias and there are hidden stumps throughout the area. - Excavator with masticating head shall be used for shredding/mastication - Large albizia stumps can remain in place, but clearing shall occur up to the base of the stumps - Must be cautious of boulders or rocks Equipment The Contractor shall be responsible for providing all equipment related to completing the roadwork. Logistics Contractor shall be solely responsible for all logistical arrangements for itself and its crew, including but not limited to all transportation, housing, meal, accommodations, and any associated costs, related to the Contractor’s performance of this contract. Sanitation and Safety Keep field vehicles, equipment and tools clean. The various work sites have weeds and pathogens that do not exist in other parts of the island. It is important to not spread these across work sites. Inspections of equipment, vehicles and/or tools may be made at time of mobilization. Tires/Tracks (especially treads) and undercarriage of vehicles should be hosed off after each field visit to avoid transporting weeds and other pathogens. Pressure wash all vehicles and equipment after off road use. Makes sure to wash all undercarriage and tires and any area that may harbor soil.
