The following commodity or service is thought to be available from only a sole source (or reasonable source) and is the only commodity/services that meets the County’s needs: MWI Corporation (MWI) manufactures and provides maintenance and repair services of surface water pumps for the Broward County Water Management Division (WMD). The purpose of these pump stations is to recharge the surface water and ground water systems during the dry season. MWI pumps are proprietary and are not interchangeable with other brands. In the state of Florida, there are no representatives authorized by MWI to provide repair services to MWI pumps; MWI covers the entire state of Florida. MWI pumps are equipped with the communication protocol required to communicate directly with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) hardware and software. To consider another pump brand, WMD would be required to re-engineer and retrofit the existing pump stations, and re-programming of the SCADA system
