The City of DeFuniak Springs will be accepting sealed bids for sandblasting and coating of the City’s three (3) Natural Gas Stations: Juniper Lake Main Gate Station, 22nd Street Station #1, and Baldwin Avenue Station #2. Scope of Work • Surface Preparation: Sandblast all specified metal surfaces (piping, valves, storage tanks) to SSPC-SP 5 / NACE No. 1 (White Metal Blast Cleaning) to remove all rust, paint, and contaminants. • Containment & Recovery: Contractor must provide full containment of abrasive blast media and recovered debris, particularly in areas with suspected lead-based paint. • Coating System: Application of a three-part system, typically consisting of a zinc-rich primer, an epoxy intermediate coat, and a UV-resistant polyurethane topcoat. • Target Areas: Detailed list of components including above-ground piping, meter sets, and air-to-soil interface areas. • Repair: Replace corroded or damaged gaskets (insulated or non-insulated) seals or nuts and bolts with stainless steel material.. Technical Requirements & Standards • Operator Qualifications (OQ): Personnel must hold current certifications for working on natural gas systems as per DOT/PHMSA requirements. • Equipment Specs: Compressed air systems must provide sufficient CFM (typically 50–100 CFM for industrial-scale jobs) and include in-line moisture and oil separators. • Materials: All blast media must be non-silica and environmentally compliant (e.g., steel grit or garnet). • Insurance: Minimum liability coverage (e.g., $1M–$5M) • Warranty: Minimum 1-year warranty on workmanship and coating adhesion.
