• The handrails must meet ADA code and cannot hinder the ingress/egress of the building. • Handrails should be installed on both sides of the sidewalk. • Style: Handrails are to be similar to handrails installed at nearby buildings. • Length: The length of handrails to be installed is approximately 150ft. Vendors are encouraged to attend the site visit to get exact measurements. • Height: The top of the gripping surface must be between 34 and 38 inches above the walking surface. • Diameter: For circular handrails, the outside diameter must be between 1.25 and 2 inches. • Perimeter: For non-circular handrails, the perimeter must be between 4 and 6.25 inches, with a maximum cross-section dimension of 2.25 inches. • Continuity: The gripping surface must be continuous along its length, without obstructions on the top or sides. • Surface: The gripping surface and any adjacent surfaces must be free of sharp or abrasive elements and have rounded edges. • Rotation: The handrail must not rotate within its fittings. • Handrails to be painted semi-gloss black.
