SC Dept. of Corrections is seeking Radiation Monitoring Badges to measure radiation exposure for our Medical Services Department (X-Ray and Dental). • Badges must meet or exceed all Federal and State Regulations. • Badges must be checked quarterly, and all reports must be available either in paper format or online. • Badges must be unaffected by Heat, Moisture and Pressure. • Badges must be exchanged every quarter. • Monitored for the year. OVERVIEW • Badge Type - Beryllium Oxide (BeO) Optically Stimulated Luminescence dosimeter using OSL technology • Vendor must have a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) approved facility. • Vendor must submit proof of their National Voluntary Laboratory (NVLAP) Accreditation. • Vendor must be a direct manufacturer of the provided dosimetry badge. • Vendor must offer an online and secure application for account maintenance. • Badge must provide a useful dose range from 5mrem – 1000 Rem. • Vendor must have physics consultants on staff that provide consultative services. • Vendor must submit a quarterly report named the Occupational Radiation Exposure Report or the Monthly Dose Report. • Re-readability to verify dose. • Easy to wear. • Slim form factor 2.8” x 1.6” • Enhanced label • Rotational clip • Wear periods from one week to one year. • Permanently bar-coded for identification and tracking • Whole-body, wrist and area monitoring configurations • SC DHEC Requirements for vendors of dosimeter badges as stated in Regulation- (61-64 X-Rays (Title B) • PART III STANDARDS FOR PROTECTION AGAINST RADIATION RHB 3.12 Personnel Monitoring). • States vendors must be holding current dosimetry accreditation from the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
