Contractor will only use chemicals which are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and are considered to be the safest and most effective chemicals. By state law and Environmental Protection Agency regulations, all restricted pesticides/herbicides must be applied by a license applicator or a Contractor who is licensed by the state of Illinois as an authorized spray applicator and spray operator. Signs shall be posted per State law at entrances of the property after chemical application. Because of their unforeseen and unpredictable nature, damages caused by vandalism, storm, insects, disease, and other causes beyond Contractor’s control are not included in this agreement. Pruning and trimming of trees and bushes shall be done at the proper time as required by the plant species. This does not include removal of severely damaged or dead trees and shrubs. Watering of turf areas, bushes, trees and other plant material is not included in this agreement and shall be the sole responsibility of the Village. Contractor shall make an effort to monitor problems with insects and diseases throughout the growing season. If pesticides or fungicide applications are necessary in order to control insects and/or diseases, Contractor will notify Village of the recommended treatment and the cost of such treatment. Mowers will be kept sharp and in good condition at all times during mowing. The grass blades shall be cut sharply and cleanly. Turf shall be cut evenly so that no ridges remain in the finished cut. The direction of mowing shall be alternated so as to minimize ruts and matting. Appropriate mowing equipment and patterns will be employed to permit recycling of clippings where possible. Excess clippings will be removed from turf. Mowing height shall be set at 2 ½” so as to encourage a deeper root system. Papers and other debris will be picked up from landscaped areas prior to mowing. Contractor shall remove all landscape related debris, which is accumulated due to work performed by Contractor, at his own expense. Contractor will not use the Villages disposal containers.
