The purpose of this project is to upgrade the generator control system for three existing Cummins 1MW (1000kW) generators and replace the existing automatic transfer switch (ATS) to improve system reliability, performance, and compliance with current standards. The project will be executed in a 36-story commercial building located in downtown Columbus, Ohio. 2. Scope of Work Engineering Services The engineering firm shall provide the following services: Site Assessment & Documentation Conduct a detailed site survey of the existing generator control systems and ATS. Document existing conditions, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control logic. Design & Engineering Design the replacement of the existing voltage regulators with Basler DECS-150 digital excitation control systems for three Cummins 1MW generators. Engineer the integration of the DECS-150 units with existing generator control panels and building management systems (BMS), if applicable. Design the replacement of the existing Russelectric RMTD-20004CE ATS (2000A, 277/480V, 3-phase, 4-wire, 60Hz) with a new ATS of equivalent or improved specifications. Engineer updated control panels. Provide updated one-line diagrams, control schematics, and panel layouts. Ensure all designs comply with NEC, NFPA 110, IEEE, and local Columbus electrical codes. Specifications & Procurement Support Develop technical specifications for the DECS-150 units and new ATS. Assist with equipment selection and procurement support, including review of vendor submittals. Construction Support Provide engineering support during installation, including RFIs, field changes, and coordination with contractors. Review and approve contractor shop drawings and installation plans. Testing & Commissioning Develop test procedures for the new control systems and ATS. Witness factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT). Provide commissioning support and final system verification.
