Overview This project aims to renovate all the carpet in four (4) classrooms (Nos. 318, 319, 320, 321) at the Amtrak facility, 500 W. Jackson Street, Chicago, IL 60661 in the Transportation Recurrent Training Center. The current carpeting is more than 15 years old with tears and general disrepair creating a safety hazard. This project will also renovate the walls and wall base of the four (4) classrooms. Training Room 318 This room is used for Recurrent Training or other Transportation department meetings and related trainings. The room occupancy is 26-28. The carpet has multiple stains and tears. Training Room 319 This room is used for Recurrent Training or other Transportation department meetings and related trainings. The room occupancy is 22-24. The below photographs show that the wall base are missing, and the carpet has many stains and tears. Training Room 320 This room is used for testing using company laptops, as well as Recurrent Training or other Transportation department meetings and related trainings. The room occupancy is 22-26. This room has two places where the carpet is lifting and creating an unsafe tripping hazard. See pictures below. Training Room 321 This is the smallest of the four rooms. This room is used for Recurrent Training or other Transportation department meetings and related trainings. The room occupancy is 12-16. The carpet has multiple stains and tears. General: Staging: Move and store current training room furniture, provide staging plan. Removal: Remove the existing carpeting and wall base where noted. Recycle carpeting offsite, provide details on how carpet will be recycled. Preparation: Remove adhesive and prep floors for new carpeting. Provide Wall Base in rooms as required. Provide transition strips at all door thresholds between old and new work. Training Room 318, 319, 320, and 321: Carpeting: Remove the existing carpet and replace with new carpet. Install new wall base throughout. Patch and level compounds to fix floor dips or cracks if there are any. Painting: Clean, sand, fill nail holes, and apply a primer to ensure proper adhesion and a professional finish. Paint all walls.
