3. TYPE 3.1 The equipment furnished under these specifications shall be new of the latest improved model in current production as offered to the commercial trade. 3.2 Steel platform body. 3.4 Knapheide Cargo Hauler equipped with- 3.4.1 Full cab height Knapheide BHR weld-on bulkhead/cab protector. 3.4.1.1 Grab handles shall be welded on streetside and curbside of bulkhead. 3.4.1.1.1 Handles shall be the full height of the punched window opening or thereabout. 3.4.2 Knapheide standard stake pockets and rub rails across the rear of the platform and along both streetside and curbsides. 3.4.2.1 Streetside pockets and rails will run entire length with the exception of the rear quadrant where the platform access ladder is located. 3.4.3 Rear body apron shall have cut-outs for rear lighting. 3.4.3.1 It is the City’s desire to cover the rear body apron with a reflective chevron wrap for enhanced rear visibility (at City’s expense after delivery of up fit). It can only be applied to a smooth surface. The rear body apron shall be smooth steel plate. 3.5 Body shall include all advertised standard equipment, and shall be provided whether or not specifically addressed. 3.6 All required non-standard items will be addressed in the technical specifications. 3.7 Bids shall include all installation, pick up of cab and chassis from 901 West Bond Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, and delivery costs. 4. APPROXIMATE BODY DIMENSIONS 4.1 9' length 4.2 96" width 5. BODY CONSTRUCTION AND ACCESSORIES 5.1 6” min. Structural Long Sills. 5.2 Structural channel crossmembers on 12” centers. 5.3 3/16-inch diamond pattern steel floor. 5.4 “Minimizer” type black poly fenders with stainless steel supports/hardware. 5.4.1 Must be for 19.5-inch tires. Fenders must be proper size, larger heavy truck fender is not acceptable. 5.5 Heavy duty rubber non-monogrammed mud flaps, body mounted, directly behind the fender assemblies. 5.6 Knapheide manufactured receiver and ICC bumper, with integral 2.5" class-V receiver tube, heavy duty bumper with sufficient bracing and dual safety chain d-rings. 5.6.1 2.5" shank pintle hook mount and pintle/ball combination hitch with 2" ball (Buyers Products #PM25612 and #BH102000 or equal). 5.6.2 Hitch system must be positioned to ensure no contact is made between the tailgate and the pintle/ball combination when dumping with tailgate down. 5.6.3 Pintle saddle height shall be 19” from the ground. 5.6.4 Hitch system must provide a minimum of 16,000 lb. M.G.T.W. and 1,600 lb. M.V.L. 5.6.5 System will provide under-ride protection. 5.7 Rear tow hooks will be installed on the right and left side of truck frame, not extending beyond the hitch plate. (Buyers B2799B or equal) 5.8 Toolboxes 5.8.1 Two (2) Buyers Products 1702600 Stainless Steel Underbody truck frame mounted toolboxes, 18” x 18” x 24”, one on both curbside and streetside. 5.8.1.1 Underbody toolbox supports will be heavy enough and gusseted to provide sufficient support of toolboxes filled with heavy tools. 5.8.1.2 A heavy duty rubber mud flap will be attached to the rearward side of each underbody box to protect the entire rearward side from debris thrown from the dual tires. It will be attached at the top and bottom to prevent sail, and shall hang a few inches below the boxes. These flaps may be directly bolted to the toolboxes. 5.8.2 Two (2) Buyers 1752835 Pro Series Black Steel Topsider top deck toolboxes 18”x 18” x 90”, Mounted forward on curbside one on top of the other. 5.8.2.1 Top deck toolboxes will be bolted securely to the body and together. 5.9 Street side ladder, (non-stowing) fixed to truck frame, mounted directly behind rear dual tires directly below body rub rail. 5.9.1 Approx. 20 inches wide, two wide non-slip rungs, bottom rung same height as the bottom of the ICC bumper, top rung approx. 6” from underside of platform body. 5.10 A 26” tall pedestal shall be fabricated from 3” square tube, and mounted securely to the platform at the right side of the ladder to accept an 8” fabricated grab handle (3/4” mild steel round bar) as an aid in climbing the ladder to the platform.
