1) Task 1 – Window Replacement: Remove old window and replace with new standard dual-glazed aluminum sliding (either vertical or horizontal) window. This is the type that fits inside the existing frame. Weathertight installation required using premium mildew-resistant caulking and molding/narrow wood boards. Window and any auxiliary wood shall be primed and painted or stained and varnished to match existing in building. 2) Task 2 – Window Replacement Remove old window and replace with new standard dual-glazed aluminum sliding (either vertical or horizontal) window. This is the type of window with perimeter flange that must be built into the wall surrounding the window. This shall require the requisite tear out and additional work on the stucco or wood siding, which shall be repaired and painted to match the existing siding. Weather-tight installation is required. All new bare wood shall be primed and painted or stained and varnished to match existing in building. 3) Task 3 – Window Repair Generally, these services involve removing and replacing damaged window components including, but limited to: window/door screens, window panes, and associated window hardware. The quantities are per Lineal Foot (LFT) or Square Foot (SQ FT) as is appropriate for each item. The window should be repaired and put into serviceable, air, and weathertight condition. Windows should open and close with a normal amount of effort, as deemed appropriate by Caltrans Contract Manager. Repair jobs should include weather-stripping as needed. This repair category is not for total window replacement. If total replacement is required, see Sections 7.H.1 and H.2 (above). Unique and unanticipated repairs shall be handled pursuant to Section 16, Special Conditions. Any replaced wood shall be primed and painted or stained and varnished to match existing in the building. Installation includes all needed hardware. All replacements shall be of intended size to insure accurate coverage and function. 4) Task 4 – Garage Door Repairs: Generally, these services involve repairs to automatic garage door operators, including, but not limited to: all moving parts, tracks, springs, motors, lights, and sensors. New hardware may be required when old hardware is inoperable or not performing to industry standard. Contractor may be required to lubricate springs or tracks to ensure ease of use. 5) Task 5 – Door and Associated Hardware Replacement a) Remove existing door and replace with a new door to fit the existing frame. Weathertight installation is required. Door and any auxiliary wood shall be primed and painted or stained and varnished to match existing in building. Installation includes all required hardware. New hardware may be required if the existing cannot be re-used, is not serviceable, or is missing. b) Door hardware replacement shall include but is not limited to: (i) Replacement and/or installation of exterior door entry and deadbolt locksets. All exterior doors shall be keyed alike. Contractor shall use Kwikset Schlage, (or equivalent) for doorknobs and locksets. (ii) Replacement of security screen door that is complete with deadbolt and entry lockset. Security screen doors shall be keyed to match entry doors. 6) Task 6 – Molding These services shall include all necessary removal and preparation work. Molding shall be needed on repair and replacement jobs involving windows, doors, and other structure components. Installation job is to be all-inclusive, including either stain or varnish or primer and paint to match existing in structure. In most cases, this section shall be used in conjunction with other sections. However, there are cases where existing molding only have been damaged or removed. The services may include replacing damaged/missing molding and making no other repair at the location. 7) Task 7 – Weather-Stripping, Kick Plates, and Door Bottoms These services shall include all necessary removal and preparation work. These weatherstripping, kick plates, and door bottoms shall be needed on repair and replacement jobs involving doors. In most cases, this section shall be used in conjunction with other sections.
