Cutting understory and midstory woody vegetation completely from the stump and masticating (grinding) the vegetation. Masticating (grinding) pre-existing slash and logs (Not to include root balls), including trees that were blown down or snapped during Hurricane Helene or other storm events. All standing vegetation 6 inches or less in diameter at DBH (diameter at breast height, 4.5 ft) shall be masticated to within 6 inches of the ground. All down vegetation, including existing slash and logs (Not including root balls) shall be masticated to within 6 inches of the ground. Shredded woody material shall be scattered over the treatment area and not piled. Advanced Shortleaf Pine regeneration/Saplings should be left if able during operations.
