The objective of this contract is for the Consultant to provide technical services to support the Department’s Radiation Safety Program (RSP). In the execution of the required services, the Consultant will work and coordinate their activities with the State Radiation Safety Officer and/or the Contract Manager for this Contract. The Consultant will provide the majority of services in-house at the Geotechnical Materials Section located in Gainesville, Florida, where the Consultant is expected to report for work on an as needed basis. The Consultant is responsible for providing the mode of transportation. The Consultant should also be prepared to provide services from their own office(s) or other locations to supplement the work of the Radiation Safety Program. CONSULTANT SERVICES a. Department’s Radiation Safety Manuals (RSMs) i. Ensure the current Portable Gauge Radiation Safety Manual and Analytical X-ray Radiation Safety Manual are regularly updated to reflect the latest radiation regulatory procedures and statutes, providing clear guidance to Department personnel working with radioactive materials/ionizing radiation. b. Training i. Review and revise the Department’s radiation safety training to ensure that it remains current, active, and effective. ii. Develop new training modules as needed to address emerging regulatory requirements or operational changes. iii. Ensure that all training aligns with the Department’s RSMs and recommend improvements where appropriate. iv. Provide initial, three-year refresher and as needed Radiation Safety Training for all occupationally exposed personnel within the Department. c. Record Keeping and Documentation i. Monitor and assess occupational radiation exposure to ensure compliance with safety standards. ii. Maintain complete and up-to-date records, including equipment, personnel, incident reports, and any other documentation required under the State of Florida Radioactive Materials License Number 109- 1.
