The San Bernardino County (County), is seeking Proposals from interested and qualified Proposers to provide medical coding audit services for Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC). Project goal and objectives – ARMC seeks Proposals from qualified Proposers for medical coding audit services of its coding process to help the hospital maintain and improve its compliance by using best practices in identifying and preventing the errors. a. Deliverables/Requirements - Perform objective audits that analyze operations, detect challenges and issues, and uncover deficiencies, validate their accuracy, and recommend specific educational benefit. ARMC should be able to use the audits for overall improvement and team building with an emphasis on boosting confidence, identifying educational opportunities and setting performance goals. Proposers seeking to provide audit services in response to this RFP should have background and experience in the following, and be able to provide the following services to ARMC: Kick-off Call 1. Schedule and implement a kick-off call with ARMC’s Health Information Management (HIM) department to introduce Contractor’s key contacts and team members to the ARMC team and to ensure Contractor’s team understands: i. Inpatient and outpatient coding workflow. ii. Coding policies and procedures, as well as ARMC workflows 2. Access applicable systems, information, and data required to perform services remotely, as needed. 3. Establish a communication method that provides an opportunity to discuss auditor recommendations and submit coder rebuttals. 4. Discuss the specific data to be included for each quarterly audit including but not limited to type of service, dates of service, and place of service. b. Audits 1. Monthly Audits i. Perform requested coding audits of Encounters not to exceed: • Two hundred forty (240) inpatient encounters per calendar quarter - 80 charts per month. • Four hundred twenty (420) outpatient encounters per calendar quarter - 140 charts per month
