This specification covers single conductor, 750 kcmil compressed stranded copper, 15 kV class III 133% 105°C ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) insulated, discharge free or discharge resistant thermosetting rubber based elastomer, copper tape shielded, jacketed power cable to be used on a 12,470/7,200 volt grounded-wye system at 60 Hz. A water blocking compound may be incorporated over the outer metallic shield or under the metallic shield. There shall be no water blocking components in the interstices of the stranded conductor. The cable shall be suitable for direct buried installations in earth, for wet and dry locations, and in open air in sunlight. The cable shall be suitable for operation with the metallic shield grounded at one end only. The cable will typically be installed between the 115 kV/12.5 kV substation transformer and 12.5 kV substation feeder breakers. 2 Technical Requirements 2.1 Governing Standards The cable shall meet the requirements of these standards except where it conflicts with the requirements of this specification, in which case this specification shall apply. Cable diameters shall conform to those required in the AEIC Standard. ICEA S-97-682-2023, “Utility Shielded Power Cables 5-46kV” AEIC CS8-20 “Specification for Extruded Dielectric, Shielded Power Cables Rated 5 through 46 kV.” 2.2 Cable The cable shall be true triple extruded (all three layers extruded in one pass) for simultaneous application of the conductor shield, insulation, and insulation shield.
