DESCRIPTION OF WORK SUMMARY The following is a summarized description of the primary work operations pertaining to the proposed work. Many of the descriptions below reference where additional information can be found for each work operation. Guardrail. This project replaces substandard end treatments and guardrail on US 127 from the Casey/Lincoln county line to the US 127-Carl Russell Street intersection (MP 0.0 to 4.592). The approximate locations and estimated quantities of guardrail are noted on the Guardrail Summary. Refer to the Special Note for Guardrail, Typical Section, and Guardrail Summary Sheet for more detail and information on this item of work. NOTE: When the plans call for a Type 1 or Type 4A End Treatment, a MASH eligibility letter from FHWA is required for these end terminals. When a MASH tested eligibility letter is not available for the end terminal being utilized, the most recent NCHRP 350 eligibility letter from FHWA for that terminal will apply. Acceptance of the terminal will be at the discretion of the Engineer. Bridge Rail Modification using Case II Bridge Guardrail. There are quantities of Bridge Guardrail Case II included in the contract for modifying the barrier system at the structure along KY 78 – Baughman Creek (069B00025N, MP 2.267 on KY 78) identified on the Guardrail Summary.
