A. Preparation • Thoroughly clean all track surfaces, including the removal of dirt, debris, and loose material. This may require broom sweeping of the surface to remove loose EPDM granule material. • Wash the entire track surface to remove mold, mildew, and stains. • If weeds or grass are present, remove plant growth and apply a recommended natural herbicide to prevent future growth. • Allow the track to fully dry before any repair or resurfacing work is performed as binders do not interact well with water. B. Crack and Depression Repair • Assess Severity: Determine if cracks are hairline (less than 1/4 inch) or deeper. • Cracks smaller than ¼”, seal and patch to repair cracks using appropriate crack fillers, following manufacturer recommended specifications. - Clean debris thoroughly from the crack. - Apply special glue or polyurethane resin to penetrate the crack fully. - For an EPDM granule system, use a running track repair kit that includes granules and a compatible binder. - Use a trowel to flatten the patch material flush with the track surface, lubricating the trowel with soapy water. • For larger than ¼” cracks, V-groove and fill. - Use a cutting machine to cut the crack into a V-shaped groove, approximately 1/3 of the track's depth. - Clean out the groove and apply a bottom sealant. - Fill the groove with a mix of EPDM granules and binder, leveling with a trowel lubricated with soapy water
