This project is a continuation of the system-wide water meter installation project. The selected contractor will conduct site inspections, develop installation plans, and install approximately 266 water meters (¾- inch to 6-inches) in accordance with City specifications and under City project management. The work consists of furnishing all labor, materials (including copper tubing and piping), tools, equipment, and incidentals and completing all Work required in order to design and install new water meters within the heated premises of selected Ketchikan businesses. The Work consists of the next phase of continuing a system-wide installation of standard water meters complete with Eaton’s Cooper Power water nodes throughout the City of Ketchikan. Once the site has been inspected by the Contractor, a water meter installation plan has been designed by the Contractor, received approval of the submitted design by CITY PUBLIC WORKS/KPU, and then is installed by the Contractor, nodes are installed by CITY PUBLIC WORKS/KPU employees at each individual meter to monitor the water flow rates. These water nodes have the ability to communicate directly with their counterpart “smart” Eaton Cooper Power electric meters who then convey the water consumption information to CITY PUBLIC WORKS/KPU Electric and the City’s Finance Department for monthly utility billing purposes. These water meters are mandatory for all residential apartment structures sized 4-plex and larger, and for all business and commercial buildings. A. The City of Ketchikan requests proposals from qualified firms to make individual property inspections that will provide the necessary documentation for the design/build installation of 266 water meters at selected property locations in Ketchikan. These properties are listed in the Contract Documents. At each of these selected locations, the Proposer shall make all arrangements with the individual property owner to access the property in order to obtain photos, measurements, and any other additional information that will be necessary to prepare a preliminary design submittal and install a water meter. Access may include, but not limited to the exterior, interior, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms. An example of the available information to be collected at each meter site includes the Site Identification name and number, its physical location with street address, existing water service size & location, property owner, contact name, telephone number, any preconstruction comments, and includes photos of the location.
