A. Ferry Parking Lot Event (event to be held on one of the City owned surface parking lots typically used for ferry rider parking) Targeting ferry riders in collaboration with Water Emergency Transportation Authority, Ferry Building tenants, and other stakeholders, design and execute an event that creates excitement and buzz around taking the ferry to/from Vallejo and/or using the ferry as a means to explore Vallejo. The City is open to a variety of potential concepts for the event theme. It could be timed with a Giants game or other special event, including special events in Vallejo. Event may be held in the area shown on Attachment B, the surface parking lot(s) on the east side of Mare Island Way. It may be a one-time event or repeat over the course of a few weeks (for example, every Friday in June). Event participation shall not be exclusive to ferry riders. Some examples of events can be farmers market along the Waterfront, food truck festivals with live music, tech and innovation showcases or local makers market or flea market featuring goods from Vallejo artisans and small businesses. B. Downtown Block Event Targeting an audience of Vallejo-area families, restaurant goers, and shoppers, in collaboration with downtown businesses, property owners, Vallejo Main Street, and other stakeholders, design and execute a special event that activates the public space (street, sidewalk, adjacent City-owned surface parking lot(s)) on a downtown block. The goal is to create a new temporary space to play, relax, and enjoy downtown Vallejo, while encouraging customers to stay longer and visit more stores and restaurants. This event may contemplate temporary street closure and may extend over a series of days (for example, three consecutive Saturdays or a full seven-day week) or may be a one-time event; the City seeks professional event producer expertise to structure it to best meet the goals. Exact location to be selected after consultation with City staff and affected stakeholders, within the downtown commercial core, an area roughly bounded by Maine Street, Santa Clara Street, Capitol Street, and Sutter Street. Event participation shall not be limited to paying customers. Some examples of events can be can be guided walking food tours partnering with local restaurants, art walks with live music and vendors, Food Truck Fridays/Saturdays, themed pop-up markets or health and wellness fairs.
