500.2.3.1 Aggregate: All Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) shall contain Meramec sand and gravel (maximum size 1”) unless otherwise specified by the City Engineer. 500.2.3.2 Cement: All concrete shall be Class A with Type 1 or 1L cement. All PCC pavements shall contain 6 sacks of cement. 500.2.3.2.1 Supplementary Cementitious Material. The use of approved percentages of fly ash, GGBFS, and silica fume shall be used in the production of Portland cement concrete. The quantity and percent use within limits shall be in accordance with the chart title “Supplementary Cementitious Limitations”. An adjustment in the design mix proportions will be required to correct the volume yield of the mixture. 500.2.3.3 Water: The maximum water per sack shall be 5 gallons. Allowable hold water must be printed on the ticket. No water shall be added to the concrete mix once it leaves the batch plant without the City’s approval. A driver adding water without being told to by City staff shall be grounds for rejection of the load. 500.2.3.4 Slump: All PCC shall have a maximum slump of 4 inches based on AASHTO T 119. A tolerance of +½ inch may be permitted.
