OCFA utilizes a Type I fire engine as the primary vehicle for transporting operations crews and equipment for fire suppression and water delivery to fire related emergencies. They carry the primary hose for acquiring water from hydrants to the hose lines and nozzles for fire suppression. These vehicles are also the primary delivery vehicle for crews to render aid and assistance for all emergencies that OCFA responds to on a daily basis including, medical, wildland, rescue and various other emergencies and service calls throughout OCFA’s jurisdiction. They carry the required Basic and Advanced Life Support EMS equipment along with the radios, crew gear and tools needed for emergency response. It is an essential vehicle for delivering the services OCFA provides. The emergency nature of rescue and firefighting services requires that all manufacturers must be responsible and possess the ability to perform successfully under the terms and conditions of the contract. The intent of the specification is to keep with the policies of the Orange County Fire Authority Purchasing and Fleet Service Sections to obtain equipment suitable for the service demands of the Fire Authority.
