A. Contractor shall furnish all labor, tools, materials, parts, equipment, and travel necessary to complete the roofing project at the locations listed in Item 3, above. This project encompasses sealing all fasters with waterproof sealant and three (3) courses with mesh all joints, seams, coating the entire roof with industrial-grade silicone coating, preferred sealants include Novaflex Metal Roof Sealants, GE Silicone Metal Sealant, or other equivalent brands, totaling approximately 24,000 square feet (sq/ft.). Refer to District 08 Maintenance Station Roofing Photos, Attachment 2. 1) Paradise Valley MS – 5,900 sq/ft 2) Blythe MS – 8,800 sq/ft 3) Needles MS – 9,300 sq/ft B. Contractor shall meet with Caltrans Contract Manager prior to beginning work to discuss work performance and to establish a schedule. All work shall be completed by Contractor within the time agreed upon at the Pre-work meeting, unless an extension is approved, in writing, by Caltrans Contract Manager. C. Clear Debris: Contractor shall Use a broom or air blower to remove loose leaves, dirt, and other debris. D. Inspect for damage: contractor shall thoroughly inspect the entire roof for loose or missing fasteners, open seams, tears, cuts, rust, and other damage. E. Repair Damaged: Contractor shall Secure or replace loose fasteners and repair any cracks or open seams to prevent water from getting under the roof. And repair/replace, install the rain gutters and downspouts. F. Clean The Surface: Contractor shall Power wash the roof to remove all remaining dirt, grime, bird droppings, and other contaminants, Use the cleaning concentrate or wash recommended by the coating manufacturer, using a roof wash first can loosen dirt, allowing for a lower pressure power wash to reduce the risk of damaging the metal. G. Address Rust and Corrosion: Contractor shall scrape away loose rust and damaged areas. treat entire rusted area with a rust-inhibitor primer to block oxidation and improve adhesion, use a wire brush or even sandblasting, some areas may require replacing metal sheet if extensive rust build up is present. H. Seal Fasteners: Contractor shall thoroughly inspect the entire roof for loose or missing fasteners, encapsulate all fasteners with a silicone mastic or patch to provide an additional waterproof barrier. I. Seal Cracks and Seams: Contractor shall repair and seal any cracks or open seams to prevent water from getting under the roof. Use three (3) course with our silicone coating manufacture recommendations. J. Allow Roof to Dry: Contractor shall allow the roof to dry completely before proceeding with application process. K. Use A Compatible Primer: Contractor Shall apply a high-quality primer specifically designed for metal surfaces to ensure good adhesion and prevent future rust. L. Allow Primer and Rust Inhibitor to Cure: Contractor Shall allow primer and rust inhibitor time to cure per manufactures recommendations. M. Test Adhesion: contractor shall test roof for adhesion per silicon coating manufactures recommendations.
