The Contractor shall provide professional veterinary services to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park on a recurring basis, including a minimum of two (2) full day, on-site visits per month and additional visits as deemed necessary. The Contractor shall also remain available for consultation via telephone and/or electronic correspondence as necessary. The Contractor shall possess the requisite education, experience, and professional credentials to provide veterinary care for Class I, II, and III mammals, shorebirds, raptors, and manatees. The Contractor shall have experience with Class I, II, III mammals, including hoof stock; avian and reptilian medicine; venomous snakes; geriatric care plans; and quality of life assessment. The Contractor shall have credentials to work with manatees and be recognized by the Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP) as a qualified and approved manatee veterinarian. The Contractor shall provide comprehensive veterinary care and oversight for the Park’s captive wildlife collection, ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and in cooperation with regulatory agencies, including, but not limited to, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Contractor shall possess the skills to perform surgical procedures in-house, including wound care, dental care and any surgeries deemed to benefit the park’s captive wildlife. The Contractor must also be able to facilitate treatments that go beyond the scope of in-house health care and procedures. The Contractor shall maintain proficiency in anesthesia, anesthetic monitoring and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as well as perform euthanasia and necropsies as needed. The Contractor shall maintain proper medical records for wildlife residents and must be proficient in the use and maintenance of darting equipment. The Contractor shall research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of nutrition and enrichment principles for all park wildlife species. The Contractor shall provide training and guidance to Park wildlife staff regarding animal health, preventive medicine, and emergency care procedures. The Contractor shall maintain all required professional licenses, controlled substance registrations, and insurance coverage; and furnish evidence thereof to the Park Manager or Wildlife Care Supervisor as updated and recertified.
