Books are categorized as educational supplies. School districts are not required to purchase exempt items from any resulting contract; however they may choose to purchase books through these contracts for discounted pricing. Early Childhood & Elementary Educational Supplies – This category represents age-appropriate supplies for core subjects in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Examples include manipulatives, dramatic play, sensory exploration, teaching resources or supplies that allow students to explore an idea in an active, hands-on approach. Requests from Districts/Schools could include items such as puzzles, shape sorters, activity mats, linking cubes, wooden block sets, kinetic sand, or magnetic plastic letters as well as child size headphones, activity books, or sciencerelated kits/packets and goggles that are not part of existing related contracts. Instructional Supplies – Middle and High School levels - This category represents core subjects including English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science and Social Studies. Examples include manipulatives, magnifiers, safety goggles, thermometers, scales, teaching resources, subject practice assessments, or supplies that allow students to explore an idea in an active, hands-on approach. Requests from Districts/Schools could include items such assignment planners, magnets, or as well as adult size headphones, or science-related kit/packets and goggles that are not part of existing related contracts. Non-IT Dependency products only. Physical Education – Middle School level and below - Physical education is part of the school experience of South Carolina students. Physical education provides students with important opportunities for healthy activities and play to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity. Examples include, but are not limited to, jump ropes, basketball, football, soccer, badminton, table tennis, and volleyball.
