The Air Quality and Assessment program for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is seeking to procure a ceilometer to provide automated measurement of the planetary boundary layers (PBL) and provide the mixing layer height (MLH) through an internal algorithm and with the capability of linking into Hampton University Unified Ceilometer Network (UCN). Equipment is to meet the requirements notated in 40 CFR Part 58 Appendix D section 5(b). The Air Quality and Assessment program for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is seeking to procure a ceilometer to provide automated measurement of the planetary boundary layers (PBL) and provide the mixing layer height (MLH) through an internal algorithm and with the capability of linking into the Hampton University Unified Ceilometer Network (UCN). Due to the value of the full backscatter profile, EPA, in conjunction with Hampton University, and NASA, developed a new data system for the collection, storage, and retrieval of ceilometer data called the Unified Ceilometer Network (UCN). The UCN is an open network designed to automatically retrieve and store ceilometer profile backscatter from participating ceilometers. A number of options are available for data collection based on the IT requirements of the partner monitoring agency. Equipment is to meet the requirements notated in 40 CFR Part 58 Appendix D section 5(b).
