SPECIAL VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS: A. Special Vehicle Requirements: (a) All vehicles used for the enclosed routes shall not be older than twelve (12) years of age. This shall be determined by the manufacturer’s date of the vehicle. (b) All vehicles used for the transportation of wheelchair bound students must provide a state-approved restraint system for the wheelchair. B. Vehicles are to be identified with the name of the transportation company affixed to the driver and passenger sides. Identifying lettering shall be bold and a minimum height of 3 inches. C. A designation identifying the bus as a “school bus” shall be made on the front and back of each bus in bold letters of at least 4 inches in height. D. A Type S school bus shall display lettering that indicates the name of the operator and the name of the municipality in which the operator has his or her principal place of business, wording on the rear of a school vehicle to indicate that the vehicle stops at railroad crossings, wording on the rear of the school vehicle to indicate that the vehicle is carrying children, and on the rear of the school vehicle the International Symbol of Accessibility to indicate that the vehicle is capable of transporting a wheelchair. Any advertisements on school vehicles must be in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:27-7.11. Lettering shall not be permitted on the windows of a school vehicle. E. A change in vehicle or bus driver assignment for a route must be reported to the Millville board of Education Forty-eight (48) hours’ notice prior to the change is required unless t is an emergency situation an emergency, the Cumberland County Regional Cooperative office shall be notified as soon as possible, but no later than twenty-four (24) hours following the reassignment. F. All school busses shall be equipped with an electronic two-way voice communication system, such as a two-way radio or car phone. This will enable the contractor to communicate with the driver upon the request of the Cumberland County Regional Cooperative. G. The Cumberland County Regional Cooperative must be able to reach transportation contractors at all times.
