The comprehensive cancer and disease assessment shall be composed, at a minimum, of three screenings to address the greatest occupational risks to firefighters: 1) Abdominal ultrasound. A full abdominal ultrasound from the neck to groin area scanning the thyroid, carotid arteries (Doppler), heart (echocardiogram), abdominal aorta, liver, spleen, gall bladder, kidneys, bladder, testicles, and external pelvic scan for females. Specifically, the scan shall look for any abnormal pathologies such as cancer, masses, nodules, cysts, calcifications, enlargements, protrusions, fibroids, or other incidental findings. The echocardiogram shall evaluate for cardiac regurgitations, ejection fraction, atrial/ventricular dilation, septal defects, thickening of the heart wall, and valve abnormalities. 2) Low Dose Chest CT Scan. Screening for lung cancer composed of multiple chest images for early detection. 3) Cardiac Calcium Score Test. Computed tomography scan of coronary arteries to show calcification, narrowing, or plaque buildup that may indicate increased risk for heart attack. Successful Bids shall include: • Onsite delivery of services; • Pre-registration and scheduling; • Complete reports from board certified radiologists and cardiologists; • Licensed health care provider follow-up to the individual for abnormal findings; • Additional outreach for abnormal results to assist with coordinating care; and • Aggregate data reporting to the City. Comprehensive aggregate data reporting to the City after testing shall include: • Total number of all tests conducted; • Positive/negative results of the tests; • Types of cancers identified; • Additional actionable findings; • If follow-up testing is required; and • Trends observed utilizing age, sex, ethnicity, and years of active service.
