The mural design shall in be in alignment with the goals of Na Hopena Ao. 3.1.1.1 Designing of the Murals 3.1.1.1.1 The designs shall tell a story and be created by collaborating with School staff and cultural advisors from Waianae Intermediate School. 3.1.1.1.1.1 Based on information and guidance received, the CONTRACTOR shall incorporate and reflect the students’ placebased educational learnings (developed through various instructional and cultural activities) into the mural design and execution. 3.1.1.1.2 The mural shall be inspired by: 3.1.1.1.2.1 Hawaiian lyrics (mele), stories that depict Hawaiian heritage, narratives, traditions, and culture; and 3.1.1.1.2.2 The Moolelo (story) aina and mele unique to Waianae. 3.1.1.1.3 The mural design shall be in alignment with Waianae Intermediate Schools existing murals and designs. 3.1.1.1.4 A portion of the mural shall be dedicated to allow students to participate by incorporating their handprints into the mural. The CONTRACTOR shall ensure the designated portion of the mural shall incorporate that the students’ handprints, ensuring the prints are an integral and aesthetic element of the final design. 3.1.1.1.5 Drafts of the mural design shall be vetted and approved by the STATE to ensure that the message is in line with the vision of the school. 3.1.1.1.6 Prior to the start of the mural sketching or transferring the large-scale design onto the actual building surfaces the CONTRACTOR shall coordinate with the STATE dates and times for the work to be done...
