The purpose of this contract is to provide engineering and related services to King County Department of Executive Services, Airport Division (“County”) to identify and evaluate alternatives, develop the design, and provide services during construction for the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) Station and Midfield Airpark Modifications portions of the Taxiway Bravo Relocation project. The Taxiway Bravo Relocation project will relocate Taxiway Bravo to the west about 50’ – 75’. This project was initiated by the FAA to remove a non-standard runway to taxiway condition that currently exists. In order to relocate Taxiway Bravo, the airport will have to: change tenant leasehold sizes, acquire land, relocate the air traffic control tower (ATCT), and relocate the airport’s aircraft rescue and firefighting station (ARFF). In addition, we anticipate mitigating impacts to 3 neighboring property owners and approximately 60 lessee’s which could include ramp modifications, utility relocations, fuel system reconfiguration, parking lot design, and aircraft stall modifications/design. The project is anticipated to receive federal funds for the environmental permitting, design, and construction of this project. Construction of the Taxiway Bravo Relocation project is planned to occur in the early 2030’s, but other aspects of the project will have to be completed in the years proceeding construction such as land acquisition and relocation of the ATCT and ARFF buildings.
