The Town is seeking a firm to market the property for a long-term lease to a tenant/tenants with experience in repurposing public buildings and bringing new life to an existing building in a commercial / residential setting. The primary goal of this long-term lease proposal/development will be to re-activate the site and create uses on the site that fit in well with the local context and downtown beach area location. The Town desires a project that will leverage location, the historic character of the area and the Town’s many assets to create economic activity and a new attraction to the Pier Area. The Town of Narragansett is open to all options for the former Library property, including, but not limited to demolition/reconstruction or repurposing the existing structure by the long-term lease recipient. It is the Town’s expectation to maintain long-term control/ownership of the site.
